First of those accomplishments came just before the French Open when the American broke into the top 50 for the first time in his career. He peaked to a career-high of no. 49 before dropping out of the top 50 again.
This new year he will be pushing to regain a spot in the top 50.
The other big achievement for Giron in 2022 included his run to the final of the San Diego Open. It was the first time that Giron had reached a tour final but the title eluded him as Brandon Nakashima took the title in straight sets.
Giron will be looking to draw inspiration from those performances in 2023. He will also be aiming for consistency this year.

Gasquet Won Matches But Didn’t Make Enough Deep Runs in 2022
Richard Gasquet produced a 26-19 season in 2022 and had an overall record of 34-25 last season.
However despite winning a number of matches, the 15-time tour-level champion could not reach a single final in 2022.
He came very close to making the title clash in Geneva and Antwerp but was dumped out by Joao Sousa and Felix Auger-Aliassime at the final four stage respectively.
Gasquet also moved up 19 places in the rankings. He had begun the 2022 season as the world no. 87.
The 36-year-old will be hoping to improve the ranking further and not just pick up more match wins in 2023 but also reach the finals. Could that be a possibility in Adelaide?
