Paula Badosa v Zoe Hives Head to Head
This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Hives, Staging a Comeback
26-year-old Australian Zoe Hives may not be well-known on the circuit, but she can change that in the United Cup. However, she lost to Katie Swan in the opener by 4-6, 3-6.
She is ranked #772, having spent most of the 2022 year on the ITF Tour. Zoe didn’t play in that many events either, with her best result coming in Chiang Rai, where she reached round two. In her defence, the United Cup Australian representative hasn’t been playing tennis regularly due to a rather serious blood disorder.
Hives played her first competitive match since September 2019, only in January last year. In those 2+ years, she only focussed on recovery and not practising.
For her to be back on the courts again is a positive sign that things have gone well for her. Perhaps, on home turf is where the former World No. 140 finds her rhythm again?

Badosa Bags a Crucial Win
Paula Badosa made her Spain proud by being the sole player to bag a win in the inaugural United Cup 2023. It was a tight match, lasting for three hours and five minutes and witnessing two tiebreaks.
The Spaniard won the match, but it took some doing – 6-7(6), 7-6(5), 6-1.
Courtesy of that win, Spain went down 1-4 and prevented a complete whitewash. However, they are still out of the competition as Great Britain won both ties in Group D.
At this point, it is a practice match for Badosa to warm up for the WTA Tour. The 25-year-old had a decent spell in 2022 as she became the World No. 2 for a short while before concluding at the 13th position – largely due to a lack of results in the last quarter of the season.
Badosa v Hives Prediction and Tip
Badosa is the heavy favourite, but after seeing her stutter against Swan, Hives may have a chance. This is a one-sided affair on paper but in reality, it can go either way.
Tips:
- Low-Risk Tip: Badosa to win in straight sets: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Hives to win, Over 21.5 games in the match: 9/4 (Click Here to Bet with 888Sport)
