Emma Raducanu v Viktoria Kuzmova Head to Head

It wasn’t the easiest of opening round matches anyway and Raducanu took her time to get going before moving into the second round of her first competition of the season.
Raducanu overcame Linda Fruhvirtova 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in a match that last two hours and 33 minutes to seal her round of 16 berth against Kuzmova.
It took just one break of serve in the first set for Raducanu to go behind as she dropped her service at 4-5. And she looked to have started off on the same note that she had ended the season when she went 2-0 behind in the second.
From there on, however, the Brit fought to break back twice and levelled the proceedings. She raced off to three breaks of serve in the decider before her opponent managed to win a couple of games.
In the end though, Fruhvirtova couldn’t sustain against the better serving of Raducanu and crashed out.

Kuzmova Surprise for Pera
Bernarda Pera had gone into her opening round match against Kuzmova as a 4/6 favourite but fell to straight-set defeat instead.
Kuzmova, who has fallen to 134th in the world, was on court for an hour and 38 minutes before she registered a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Having overcome Elizabeth Mandlik and Varvara Gracheva in her qualifiers, Kuzmova broke her opponent for the first time in the seventh game. She then saved three break-points in the eighth game before clinching the opening set in the 10th off her own serve.
Once ranked 43rd on the WTA charts, Kuzmova lost her serve early in the second set, but broke back twice in succession. Another couple of break-points were saved by Kuzmova before winning the encounter off her fifth match-point.

Raducanu is 9/20 to win this and unless Kuzmova can win successive matches in the WTA tournament main draw for the first time since July 2020, this will be going one way.
