Marketa Vondrousova v Kaia Kanepi Head to Head

Vondrousova will hope she can notch up another victory here as she repairs her ranking which has fallen to 92nd in the world despite being a top 15 player at one stage. Veteran Estonian player and her opponent in this match Kanepi won’t be making things easy for her.

Kanepi Continues to Rumble
While she needed three sets to get past Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the result only underlined Kanepi’s grit and determination as the Estonian came through to another second round stage.
The world number 32 Kanepi, who at 37 years of age, is the oldest players on the top 500 of the WTA Rankings list, overcame a first set deficit to register a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Sasnovich and make the round of 16.
Kanepi was on court for two hours and four minutes before carving out a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Sasnovich.
She comes into this season on the back of a final appearance at the Washington Open last year and two other semifinal showings.
Can she now get the better of a player who has otherwise had a rotten last couple of seasons?
