Frances Tiafoe v Daniel Evans Head to Head

Tiafoe Raises Game Against Germany
Frances Tiafoe got lucky in his first singles match against the Czech Republic, when his opponent Tomas Machac retired with an ankle injury during an even contest.
But Tiafoe seemed to be in good form in his singles match against Germany, as he defeated Oscar Otte in straight sets on Day 6.
Following the singles win, he combined with Jessica Pegula to beat the German pairing of Laura Siegemund and Daniel Altmaier in the mixed doubles contest to help the United States beat Germany 5-0 on the final day of the Group matches.
Against Machac, Tiafoe had won the first set 6-3, thanks to a sole break he got in the second game of the match. He then found himself trailing 2-4 in the second, when Machac quit the contest due to the injury.
Against Otte on Tuesday, Tiafoe produced a much better performance. He did not face a single break point, but broke the German once in both the sets to score a 7-5, 6-4 victory. Tiafoe won 97 percent (29 of 30) points on his first serve but got just 54% of his first serve right.
The 24-year-old played some amazing tennis last year. He reached two finals in Estoril and Tokyo but couldn’t add to the only title he won in Delray Beach in 2018. He also produced his best Grand Slam result by reaching the semifinal at the U.S. Open and broke into the top 20 for the first time in his career.

Evans Is 1-1 in the Tournament
Daniel Evans lost the opening singles against Australia, but in Great Britain’s second tie against Spain, he managed to win his singles against clay court specialist Albert Ramos-Vinolas, but he needed three sets to win the contest.
Against Kubler, the world no. 27 lost the first set but raced to a 0-5 lead in the second, before throwing away the advantage and losing the match 6-3, 7-6.
Against Ramos-Vinolas, Evans had an early break in the first set and he held on to the lead to go one-up. In the second, the Spaniard made a terrific comeback, breaking the Briton twice and tying the match at one-set apiece.
In the final set, Evans saw Ramos-Vinolas come back from a break down, but he restored the advantage later and held on to the lead to clinch the contest 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.
The 32-year-old was 30-27 last year. A winner of Nottingham Challenger last year, he was a semifinalist in Montreal, Sydney and San Diego and also featured in a few quarterfinals. But he has had a shaky start in 2023. Can he find his rhythm in the Sydney finals?
Tiafoe v Evans Prediction and Tip
