Qinwen Zheng v Victoria Azarenka Head to Head
20-year-old Qinwen Zheng has not faced off against Victoria Azarenka on the WTA Tour before this.

Zheng Passes Kontaveit Test
Qinwen Zheng’s chances of adding a second career title this week got off to a positive start. Zheng has landed in the most treacherous section of the draw.
But having taken down one big name in the form of Anett Kontaveit, she should be confident heading into her second-round match against the experienced Azarenka.
Zheng and Kontaveit served up a classic in a mouthwatering first-round match at the Adelaide International. With six Top 20 wins in her resume, she was in total control on Tuesday, leading an off-color Kontaveit 6-1 4-2 in just over an hour.
The Estonian did not back down and reeled off four straight games to send the match into a third set. Both players did not drop serve in the decider which went into a tiebreak. The 20-year-old Zheng saved a match at 5-6, before converting her own at 7-6 to settle a pulsating match that lasted two hours and 28 minutes.

Azarenka Withstands Barrage By Kalinina
Victoria Azarenka will be pretty pleased with her opening-round victory against one of the WTA’s rapidly improving players. The Belarusian topped Anhelina Kalinina 7-6 7-6 in a marathon straight-sets match that went beyond two and a half hours.
Kalinina has closed out her 2022 season in perfect style, winning a WTA 125K title in Limoges last month, beating the likes of Anna Blinkova and Clara Tauson.
And she was bound to be confident of upsetting the applecart considering that Azarenka had not played since October and only played 37 matches overall last year.
Kalinina was the one who made an electric start, romping to a 5-1 lead before she somehow capitulated and gave Azarenka a route back into the set, saving a couple of set points before miraculously snatching the set in a tiebreak.
The second set was of huge momentum shifts. Azarenka led, but was pegged back. And eventually, a tiebreak would suffice. Lightning struck twice, with Azarenka sealing the match on her fifth match point.
Zheng v Azarenka Prediction and Tip
This is a match that pits one of the stars of the past and one who is a star in the making. Zheng is steadily fulfilling her potential and this could be a window of opportunity for her to make an impression if the seeds keep tumbling. The Chinese star should be able to outlast a rusty Azarenka.
