Iga Swiatek v Jessica Pegula Head to Head

There have been five previous meetings between these two players and Swiatek has won four of them.

Pegula’s only victory over Swiatek came in their first ever match in Washington in 2019, while their next four meetings came in 2022 and all of them were won by the Polish number one.

Swiatek Clinical in Opening Three Matches

It’s almost been a case of a new season but the same old, same old from Swiatek. Getting past her has continued to remain a problem as the Polish number one has won all her three matches in this tournament so far.

Making it more difficult for her opponents is the fact none of them have been able to take a set off her either.

Swiatek started off with a crushing defeat of Yulia Putintseva before needing a tie-breaker against Belinda Bencic during the group stages of the tournament.

And in the City Finals, Swiatek dropped a mere six games to Martina Trevisan to help lead Poland make it through to the semifinals. She won 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 51 minutes.

She now faces a player ranked three in the world which could make things interesting but given her form, don’t be surprised to see a bit more of the same old, same old.

Pegula Comes Back Well from Kvitova Loss

Pegula did not have the brightest of starts to the tournament when she lost to Czech Republic’s veteran player Petra Kvitova in her opener. The good news for her was that USA still managed to win that tie.

This was followed by a straight-set win over Laura Siegemund, whom she crushed 6-3, 6-2 to help the USA move into the second stage.

In the City Finals, USA took on Great Britain and Pegula proved to be too good for Harriet Dart. In a match lasting a mere 57 minutes, she demolished her opponent 6-2, 6-0, with five breaks of serves and not facing a single break-point in the process.

The stakes will get a lot higher now, and not just because it’s the semifinal. It’s also because of the sudden change in the quality of opposition, with Swiatek a far cry from what she has faced so far.

Swiatek v Pegula Prediction and Tip

Swiatek is a whopping 3/10 to win this and that’s an easy one to go for. We also think this could turn out to be another straight-setter for Swiatek if you are looking at something more substantial out of this.
