Madison Keys v Magda Linette Head to Head
There have been two previous matches between them, both of which came last season. The first, at the Guadalajara Open, was won by Keys but Linette then surprised her opponent at the Billie Jean King Cup late last year.

Keys Makes it Three in Three
While Keys hasn’t played a top-20 opponent so far in the competition, she has done well to seal off wins to help USA march forward. She’s played three and won all of them, including her Host City Finals against Katie Swan in which she needed three sets.
After routing Marie Bouzkova, who is ranked 24th in the world, and then meting out the same treatment to Jule Niemeier in her group stage singles match, Keys played Swan in the knockout encounter that followed.
And for a while it looked like the American was struggling to get her rhythm going as she lost her serve three times in the first set.
It was only when Keys broke early in the second set and then saved a break-point to level things out that she looked to be back in the contest. And while the duo exchanged breaks in the decider, it was a second break of serve in the ninth game that gave her a decisive lead.
Against Linette, Keys should start off a favourite but would do well to improve on her second serve win percentages – they were a lowly 38% against Swan.

Linette, the Surprise Package
Poland’s wins over their two group stage opponents revolved around their fine performances from three of their singles players – Iga Swiatek, Hubert Hurkacz and Linette herself.
But when Hurkacz lost to Matteo Berrettini in the Host City Final, it would have been curtains for them had it not been for Linette.
Linette, who had defeated Zhibek Kulambayeva and and Jil Teichmann in the round-robin stage, carved out a crushing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lucia Bronzetti in the Host City Finals to help Poland eke out a place in the semifinal.
Under pressure, Linette was on court for a mere 74 minutes to help herself to a win.
And now up against Keys, Linette will hope she can carry the same form forward as she looks to overcome Swiatek’s opening defeat in this tie.
Keys v Linette Prediction and Tip
Keys is a favourite but it would be hard to look away from Linette whose form has been exemplary. A Linette victory isn’t just a notional thought here, it is a distinct possibility.
