Adrian Mannarino v JJ Wolf Head to Head

This is the first time that Mannarino and Wolf will be facing off in a competitive match.

Mannarino Coming off a Win and Loss in United Cup

While Mannarino did not have a lot of trouble getting past Federico Coria in his opening encounter at the United Cup, he fell to a surprise defeat in the second to Borna Gojo.

The experienced Mannarino had dropped just one game in the Coria encounter before losing 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-6 (5) in France’s tie against Croatia.

Having won a title in Winston-Salem last year as a 34-year-old, Mannarino looked to be in good touch coming into this season but that loss to Gojo would have hurt.

Mannarino’s greatest strength is his bouncebackility, and that could well be on show come this encounter in round one.

Wolf Kick-Starts His New Year

Wolf wasn’t involved in any of the three ATP tournaments that were played in the opening week of the season, which means he kick-starts his year here in Auckland with this first round match.

And he will look to continue with the good work he had done that season when he propelled himself from being a 216th-ranked player to ending the season at the 66th position.

His career-best ranking of 56 came on the back of three semifinal appearances on the Challenger circuit which were then usurped his runner-up spot at the Florence Open.

Can Wolf start out with a solid showing that results in a win over the experienced Mannarino?

Mannarino v Wolf Prediction and Tip

Mannarino is a 11/20 favourite which seems rather short odds for a player who lost to Gojo at the United Cup. Wolf, at 5/4, looks to be tempting odds for a win here.
