Constant Lestienne v Pedro Cachin Head to Head

While they have never faced off on the ATP Tour, they did meet once on the Challenger circuit. It came last year on clay with Lestienne winning in three.

Lestienne Loses Season Opener to Djokovic

When you are playing your first match of the season, you hope not to walk into a minefield in the form of a top 10 player. More so if he is a fired-up 21-time Grand Slam winner looking to avenge for the purported insult he faced after being sent back from Australia last season.

Novak Djokovic wasn’t going to give Lestienne an inch and that’s exactly what happened at the Adelaide International opener.

Lestienne managed to get himself a break-point to begin with but from there on it was all Djokovic who won 6-3, 6-2.

The good news is Lestienne doesn’t mind playing on hardcourt surfaces, having won eight of the 16 matches he has played on it at the highest level. Can he get past his clay-court specialist opponent?

Cachin Falls to Khachanov in Adelaide

In a manner not too different from Lestienne’s first round loss in Adelaide, even Cachin did not last too long at the season-opening competition. Cachin, facing up to Karen Khachanov, was sent out 6-2, 6-4 in the opener.

The Argentine is more well-versed with his performances on clay court surfaces, having all the 15 of his Futures and Challengers competition on the red dirt.

Even more interestingly, Cachin has made the final of 35 such lower-circuit tournament – including the 15 he won – and all of them have also been on clay.

Coming up against Lestienne, things might not get too much easier than what they were against Khachanov.

Lestienne v Cachin Prediction and Tip

Lestienne will start off a favourite and might even carve out a straight-set win over his Argentine opponent.
