A Background on Australian Open 2023

Main draw ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 and can be streamed on the Australian Open Youtube Channel. The ‘Happy Slam’ will officially start on January 16 and run till January 29, 2023 at Melbourne Park.

The qualifying section is up and running with three rounds of matches during the week to determine the 16 men and women who will vie to win the year’s first Grand Slam.

Unfortunately this year, the qualifying rounds will not be televised on the Australian Open Youtube Channel, but will instead be aired live by all broadcast partners.

Emma Raducanu’s sensational US Open win in 2021 is a telling reminder that every one of the 128 players in the draw has a chance of winning the ultimate prize.

So a player like Linda Noskova, for example, was 30/1 to win the tournament despite not qualifying just yet. The young Czech was slotted at lower odds than former finalist Petra Kvitova, which shows the depth of the playing field in the women’s section.

For the men’s, and the last decade in particular, the Australian Open has been dominated by one man, and that is Novak Djokovic. The former World No. 1 has returned to Australia for the first time since his controversial deportation a year ago.

Djokovic is the odds-on favorite to clinch an unprecedented 10th title by the end of the month. He quelled down fears of a hamstring injury by winning the Adelaide International last week.

If you are looking to watch this year’s Australian Open either as a spectator inside Rod Laver Arena or from the comfort of your home, then you will get all the information below on how to do that.
