Aryna Sabalenka v Belinda Bencic Head to Head

Sabalenka and Bencic have met each other only once on the tour. That meeting took place in the quarterfinal of the last year’s WTA New Haven, where the Belarusian won 6-3, 6-2.

Bencic Hoping to Reach Top Again

The Swiss, who at one point in time was the World No. 7, is hoping to recapture that former glory after losing her form and struggling with injuries over the last couple of seasons. Nonetheless, in 2018, she returned to the top 50 with the promise of more wins in the coming years.

The 21-year-old reached the fourth round in Wimbledon last year and later in the season, she was the runner-up in the Luxembourg Open.

As for the present season, Bencic started her campaign with a brilliant semifinal run in Hobart, where she lost to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in three gruelling sets. After that, she incurred a third-round defeat in Melbourne to Petra Kvitova and a loss in the qualifiers in St. Petersburg.

However, she did win the Hopman Cup with Roger Federer earlier this season. Moreover, she played an important role in taking the Swiss team to the next round in Fed Cup by winning both of her singles ties against Sara Errani and Camila Giorgi.

So far in Dubai, she has had easy, clinical wins over the likes of Lucie Hradecka and Stefanie Voegele.

Sabalenka Looking Confident as Usual

Sabalenka, who is currently the World No. 9 – her best ranking yet, defeated the Serbian qualifier Ivana Jorovic in her opening match in straight sets.

Earlier this year, the 20-year-old Belarusian won the competition in Shenzhen after defeating the likes of Maria Sharapova and Alison Riske. She also reached the semifinal in St. Petersburg and later played an important role in the Fed Cup. There, she defeated Andrea Petkovic and Laura Siegemund of Germany to take her side to the next round, just like Bencic.

Last season, Sabalenka won the Wuhan Open and the Connecticut Open to make a name for herself on the tour. She also defeated several top players like Karolina Pliskova, Garbine Muguruza, Carolina Wozniacki, among others.

Sabalenka v Bencic Predictions & Tips

Sabalenka has been in a far better form in comparison to Bencic of late. She will start this game as the favourite to win. At the same time, Bencic can be quite menacing at times too and can definitely give her Belarusian opponent a run for her money.
