Petra Kvitova v Qinwen Zheng
A very fascinating matchup between two players who love these conditions in Australia will take place on Wednesday. Kvitova takes on Zheng in a match that promises to be a really interesting one as it will likely be a close one.
They never played before and that is likely to favour Zheng as it’s pretty known how Kvitova plays. Zheng is no differnet really as her serve is a strong one, probably on par with Kvitova. They also love to attack and have a flat ball which is another similarity.
Both are rather confident in the way they played and have played well to start the year but Kvitova was quite a bit more stable. Zheng is young, she needs a bit more experience. Kvitova is 3-0 this year and Zheng is 4-1 showing just how well of a start for both it was.
I think Kvitova is likely to win this one because I expect her to be a bit more sturdy in this one. She’s slightly favoured as well.
Tip: Kvitova to win: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Andrey Rublev v Thanasi Kokkinakis
Andrey Rublev and Thanasi Kokkinakis promise to provide a proper tennis show in the hometown of the Aussie player. He’ll be inspired to win, Rublev looks vulnerable and it’s shaping up to be a great match.
They never played before which is a surprise considering how long each has been part of the tour but they each played one match already in Adelaide. Kokkinakis did a bit better by posting a 2-1 record so far. Rublev is 0-1 as he choked away a win against Bautista Agut.
Rublev looked pretty good against the Spaniard to start the match and looked very close to winning before falling apart. Kokkinakis looked solid as well and while he didn’t show as good of a peak as Rublev he also didn’t fall apart as he did.
It’s an interesting matchup between two players who play somewhat similarly but Rublev is the far better player. I expect him to be angry about the loss last week and to come out inspired here. Take him to get it done easily and comfortably.
Tip: Rublev to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Beatriz Haddad Maia v Amanda Anisimova
Another super interesting matchup will feature Beatriz Haddad Maia who had an amazing Australian summer last year and Amanda Anisimova who looks better this week.
There are very few players whose play varies as much as Anisimovas. She’s capable of playing incredible tennis only to play poorly in the next match. She didn’t open this year well but improved this week beating Samsonova in two. Haddad Maia is far more consistent but can’t hit the same high level Anisimova can.
It’s a tough one to predict because Anisimova’s best will beat Maia easily but anything other than that will favour the Brazilian. She’s 0-2 against her opponent so there might be some added motivation here.
Maia is 3-0 so far on the year so it would be foolish to doubt her. Anisimova is slightly favoured which makes sense but I think this will either go in three or will be a close win in two sets. The over seems like a good idea here.
