Jannik Sinner v Kyle Edmund Head to Head
Sinner is 1-0. They played against each other for the first time in Adelaide-1 earlier this month and Sinner won the contest 6-3, 6-2.

Sinner Was a Quarterfinalist in 2022
Jannik Sinner brings a 2-1 2023 record to the Australian Open.
The World no. 16 featured in Adelaide International-1 event to start the season and won his first two rounds comfortably against Edmund and Thanasi Kokkinakis respectively to reach the last eight of the tournament.
He was halted in the quarterfinal though, with Sebastian Korda outplaying him 7-5, 6-1.
Sinner will be making his fourth appearance at the Australian Open and his best came last year, when he reached the quarterfinals of the tournament before falling to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The 21-year-old, who has reached the last eight of all the majors once each, also made it to the quarterfinals in Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2022.
Overall, he had a 47-16 season last year, which included one title that he won in Umag on clay. Interestingly that was the only final he reached in 2022, following a sensational 2021, when he captured four titles from five finals.
An all-court player, Sinner’s been the most successful on hard courts. He will be aiming to match his last year’s exploits in Melbourne. While he may get through the first two rounds with ease, things could become difficult from the Round of 32. He faces a potential third round match against Lorenzo Musetti and a potential fourth round against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Edmund Was a Semifinalist in 2018
Kyle Edmund comes into the tournament having lost the first two matches of the season.
The Briton, ranked no. 583rd in the world, was a semifinalist at the Australian Open in 2018. But he has been hampered by injuries over the last two years and has played just one major (the U.S. Open in 2022) in the last two years.
The last time he played the Melbourne major it was in 2020, when he made a first round exit.
Edmund has not had a significant win since beating Alexander Bublik in the 2020 U.S. Open and he is yet to produce a win in 2023, having lost the openers in both the Adelaide events.
The 28-year-old Briton, who reached as high as no. 14 in 2018, lost to Sinner in Adelaide-1 and to Miomir Kecmanović in Adelaide-2. He couldn’t win a set in either of the two matches.
A two-time champion on the tour, Edmund is looking to win a first Grand Slam match since the first round at the U.S. Open in 2020. While he won’t be the favourite in the opening round, can he pull off a surprise?
Sinner v Edmund Prediction and Tip
Sinner is the favourite. He scored a comfortable win over Edmund in the first week of January and shouldn’t have much trouble in dispatching the Briton in Melbourne.
