Soonwoo Kwon probably had the best week of his life in Adelaide as he stunned a number of great players en route to the ultimate triumph in the final.
It was an amazing week of tennis for the South Korean as he played very aggressive tennis that troubled many tennis players. When he added some spectacular serving as well it was very hard to beat him and they all failed. His record in 2023 is now 8-2 and it will most likely continue.
The trap for Kwon is the trophy though as many tennis players don’t do well in the next week after a trophy. That’s particularly apparent for those that don’t win trophies regularly.
I don’t think it will affect him too much as he will have enough time to recover but I don’t expect him to repeat that level in Melbourne.

Eubanks Starting Well in Adelaide
Christopher Eubanks will arrive in Melbourne with a 3-1 record after playing in Adelaide. It’s been an okay showing for him as he qualified before losing to David Goffin.
Eubanks will be hoping to finally make that top 100 breakthroughs. He has been playing for a while and is not young anymore but he’s never quite hit the level needed to become a regular player on the Tour.
He’s been trying for a year but this year’s solid start and the good finish to the last year could actually see him do it this time around. He’s got the game to do well in Australia with a powerful serve and strong groundstrokes. He moves well albeit that might be a problem against some better players.
The key to win for him will be the stay in the match and serve as well as he can. If he can’t serve well it’s going to be a problem.
Kwon v Eubanks Prediction and Tip
Kwon is the player to watch here because if he’s fit enough he should win. I don’t think it will be that easy because I think Eubanks will push the match to four sets and probably the over on games.
