Tallon Griekspoor v Botic Van De Zandschulp Head to Head
The pair have each other three times before.
On the senior tour, Van De Zandschulp won their match in Winston Salem last year in straight sets.
He also won their clay match on the Challenger tour in 2019, but Griekspoor beat him in the final of another event on Dutch soil in Amersfoort two years later.

Griekspoor Brushes Aside Lucky Loser
Griekspoor would have been entitled to a degree of trepidation when he was drawn against Lucky Loser Pavel Kotov, the world no. 117. After all, they had played twice before and Kotov had won on both occasions, although those matches took place on clay.
The courts of Melbourne proved much more to the Dutchman’s liking though.
He seized control of the match from the start, breaking Kotov in his opening service game. Other break points came and went, but that was enough to earn Griekspoor the first set.
The second set was dominated by serve, and there were no break points created by either man. But, in the subsequent tie-break, Kotov dropped his serve twice in succession, and Griekspoor went two sets up.
When Kotov was broken again at the start of the third set, the victory was as good as in the bag for the Dutchman. He eased to the win from there.

Van De Zandschulp Battles Past Ivashka
Compatriot Van De Zandschulp was also handed a tricky looking fixture against Ilya Ivashka, the world no. 73, and he will be pleased how he came through the challenge.
It was advantage to the Dutchman when he broke first in the opening set, but Ivashka recovered the break, only to fall behind again, despite saving three break points.
Van De Zandschulp served out to claim the first set.
Ivashka though, hit back, claimed the only break of the second set, and it was all square again.
In the third set, it was the Dutchman’s serve that came under increased pressure, and he had already saved five break points before he was broken again. He had to save three more, but, having done so, broke back to level again with Ivashka serving for the set.
Two more break points were squandered by Ivashka, and that proved costly as he dropped his own serve again next game, handing the third set to his opponent in the process.
At the start of the fourth set, Van De Zandschulp continued to struggle on serve, and fell a break behind, only for Ivashka to immediately surrender his advantage again.
And, when he dropped his serve once more, Van De Zandschulp had the chance to serve for the match.
He needed no second invitation.
Griekspoor v Van De Zandschulp Prediction and Tip
Whatever happens, the Netherlands are guaranteed to have a male competitor in the third round of this year’s Australian Open.
Based on comparative ranking and his better head to head record, Van De Zandschulp will be the favourite, but he will have to play better than he did against Ivashka if he wants to advance.
