Cori Gauff v Bernarda Pera Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between Gauff and Pera.

This was the seventh match in a row that Gauff won this season and for the seventh time this year, she hadn’t dropped a set.
Credit must be given to Emma Raducanu for pushing Gauff the way she did in the second set of her 6-3, 7-6 (4) win but in the end, the American came through in an hour and 43 minutes to seal her third round berth.
Gauff did have her issues in both the sets, losing her serve after having initiated the breaking process in the first place. In the first set, she broke again for the second time but was unable to dish out something in the second which took the set into a tie-breaker.
What’s interesting to note is that this is the first time this season, across 14 sets that Gauff was taken into a tie-breaker. Not once before this had she lost even five games in a set, and had lost just 17 games in the last nine sets leading up to the second in this match.
These stats only underline the kind of form that Gauff is in and to beat her will require something special. Not sure if Pera has that arsenal.

Pera Shocks Qinwen
Qinwen Zheng is just 20 years of age and has stormed the tennis world by breaking into the top 30 of the WTA Rankings. Which is also why she was a whopping 1/3 favourite coming into her second round match against Pera.
Pera had other ideas though, as nearly an hour and a half later, she had sent the Chinese player packing, winning 6-4, 6-4.
Having needed three sets against the 116th-ranked Moyuka Uchijima in the first round, Pera wasn’t given much of a chance here but she overturned a 1-4 deficit in the first set to seal a place in the round of 32.
This will be only the second time that Pera will be playing in the third round of this tournament and the first in five years. Can she pull out the proverbial rabbit out of the hat here?
Gauff v Pera Prediction and Tip
Gauff’s dominance has been such that it’s tough to see any of the players outside the top 10 challenge her at this stage. Expect her to come through, yet again, in straight sets.
