Danielle Collins v Elena Rybakina Head to Head

Danielle Collins and Elena Rybakina are tied at 1-1 in their head-to-head, with Rybakina winning their clash in Adelaide a couple of weeks ago in three sets.

Collins Beats Muchova in Thriller

Danielle Collins ensured she would still be playing at this year’s Australian Open after producing a resilient performance to beat a resurgent Karolina Muchova 6-7 6-2 7-6 in two hours and 55 minutes, in a match that finished past midnight due to multiple rain interruptions during the day.

Collins lost the first set against the run of a play in a tiebreak, but recovered to level, putting a clinic in the second set where she broke Muchova’s serve twice and won 14 of 27 return points.

The third set was dramatic, with Collins being the first to break. But Muchova broke almost straight away and a 10-point tiebreak would decide matters.

The American thought she had won the match on reaching 7 points in the tiebreak, only to be reminded by the chair umpire. Thankfully for her, she composed herself and sealed the three points she needed to escape the shackles of the Czech.

Rybakina Thrashes Juvan

Elena Rybakina, meanwhile, equaled her best appearance at the Australian Open by virtue of reaching the third round, demolishing World No. 104 Kaja Juvan 6-2 6-1 in 58 minutes.

Rybakina fired five aces in the match and won 88% first-serve points – translating to 21 of 24 points. Rybakina, who clocked her fastest serve at 118 mph, hammered 23 winners to 19 unforced errors.

The big-serving Kazakh converted four of her eight break points, while at the same time, did not face a break point on her own delivery.

It was an improved performance by Rybakina after surviving a dangerous opener against rising Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Could she advance into the second week of the Australian Open for the first time?

Rybakina v Collins Prediction and Tip

These two clashed a couple of weeks ago and it was Rybakina who cleared the early rust to win in three. Their match in San Jose a couple of years ago was just as close. For a low-risk tip, the games market should be of real interest, while a riskier take would be a Rybakina win.
