Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jiri Lehecka Head to Head

They had faced off in the semifinal at the Rotterdam Open last season and Tsitsipas had won that in three sets.

Tsitsipas Needs Five Sets against Sinner

Not that too many expected Tsitsipas to have it easy against Jannik Sinner but he did have a chance to finish things off in straight sets having taken a two sets to love lead after an hour and a half into the contest.

Some two and a half hours later, Tsitsipas was still on court and looking to close off the encounter.

He missed out on three break-points in the fourth game but then followed it up with a break of serve in the sixth. And then when he got a chance to serve for the match, he did so to 15 to complete a four-hour, five-set long encounter.

Tsitsipas had earlier come through to the fourth round with three straight-set wins and then took a 6-4, 6-4 lead in this one. Serving, however, became an issue for Tsitsipas all of a sudden as he won just 60% of his first serve points in sets three and four.

18 of the 26 break-points that Tsitsipas faced in the entire match came in those two sets.

Now facing a player who has never been ranked better than 59th in the world, Tsitsipas will hope he has a better pathway to the semifinal.

Lehecka Shocks Auger-Aliassime

While not too many, including probably Lehecka himself would have thought of making the quarterfinal here at the start of the tournament, he has had a few solid performances over the three tournaments he has played.

For instance he had defeated Alexander Zverev at the United Cup, and got the better of Thiago Monteiro in Auckland. And coming into his fourth round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Lehecka had already sent Cameron Norrie packing in a hard-fought five-setter.

So while he was up against a 1/5 favourite in this encounter, Lehecka’s win over Auger-Aliassime might not have been a fluke.

Not when he came back from a set down to win it in four – clinching the last two sets of that in tie-breakers. What proved to be of great service to Lehecka was his serve which Auger-Aliassime managed to break just once in the entire match.

With an 83% first serve win percentage against Auger-Aliassime, he will know he can push Tsitsipas in this one if he can maintain that high a number in his quarterfinal too.

Tsitsipas v Lehecka Prediction and Tips

Tsitsipas starts off a 1/6 favourite and he has shown all season how clinical he has been but we can expect Lehecka to push him a tad. Four-set win for the Greek.
