Novak Djokovic v Alex de Minaur
An injury-hampered Djokovic takes on the Speed Demon in his native country and on Rod Laver Arena. This match has sensationally written all over it because the Australian should produce his best.
They never played before so Djokovic doesn’t really know what he’s getting himself into. He knows that his opponent is very quick and it’s very hard to outhit him. That’s a major problem with his leg restricting his own movement which has been okay due to him playing through the pain.
He will also be against the crowd which is something he knows how to do and sometimes even enjoys it. A lot will depend on how long the match is and how well he hits. It’s been an emphasis for Djokovic to finish points quickly and if he can do that again he should be good.
I’m sure he’ll drop one set, maybe even two but can’t back de Minaur to win.
Tip: De Minaur to win a set – Yes: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
J.J. Wolf v Ben Shelton
Two Americans battling for a spot in the quarter-final is not a surprise but Shelton and Wolf being the players certainly is. Neither had any major experience prior to this event but they both shined with a some favourable draws as well.
With both being America, the style of play is very similar. Powerful serve, strong forehand and aggressive play. In a matchup like that it will simply come down to who is playing better on that day. Both can beat the other and they never played against each other so far.
I like Shelton more and I do think down the line he’ll be the better player but Wolf has been doing this for a while now. It’s not so novel for him and he’s had experience playing in grand slams before. I do think that will matter overall.
Take Wolf to get it done. We reckon it’s going to be in four.
Tip: Wolf to win in four sets: 2/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Aryna Sabalenka v Belinda Bencic
These players have started to new year off in style so it’s not a surprise that they will meet for a chance to play in the quater-final.
Sabalenka has played her best tennis in a while and she’s quite possibly looked like the best player so far. Bencic is 8-1 this year and looks very comfortable in these conditison. It’s a really close and tricky one to predict and the H2H is 1-1 as well.
Both matches are old so they’re not that useful to begin with. Sabalenka is far more aggresive and is expectec to attack but her success rate will dpeend on how well Bencic handles that. She’s more than capable with the serve of either being important as well.
We suggest Sabalenka to win. She seems a bit more decisive.
Tip: Sabalenka to win in straight sets: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
