Aryna Sabalenka v Donna Vekic
Sabalenka and Vekic have both played a superb event so far yet the Belarussian was far more impressive. She’s returned to form at this event and her standard issues seem like a thing of the past.
She is serving better this year than last year although some double faults persisted. It stems from her very aggressive nature of playing tennis which is her main strength. Sabalenka has been frustrating opponents this Australian Open with that, never giving opponents time to breathe.
Vekic plays similarly and she’s a very clean ball-striker but it’s really hard for anybody to match the intensity with which Sabalenka plays. Even so, Vekic leads the H2H and it is quite a score. 5-1 for the Croatian in six matches which is very surprising.
I don’t think Vekic can win a hitting contest with Sabalenka, not this version of Sabalenka at least. I would be very surprised if she pulls out anything but a loss in two sets here.
Tip: Sabalenka to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Tommy Paul v Ben Shelton
Two Americans play for a chance to be in the Australian Open semi-final and it promises to be a superb matchup. The way they approach tennis is quite similar as they both like to have the match on their own terms – quick and snappy.
Both possess a powerful serve but Shelton seems to have a more impressive serve overall. Paul has far more experience but the lack of experience did not hurt Shelton so far. They are both really solid from the baseline and it’s expected that this match will be both quick and close.
No previous matches which is not surprising considering how young Shelton is. I think that will be an issue in this one because Paul should be able to problem-solve a bit better than his young compatriot.
I do think Paul will win but he’ll probably drop a set or two.
Tip: Paul to win AND Both players to win a set: 5/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Novak Djokovic v Andrey Rublev
Despite dealing with an injury, Novak Djokovic has been sensational at the Australian Open. Nobody is really surprised, he’s been doing this for years and Andrey Rublev isn’t excited about playing him. He will try to win but it will be really hard to do so.
They played twice so far and Djokovic leads 2-1. Rublev’s only win against Djokovic came on clay last year when he played him in the Belgrade final. It was at a time when Djokovic wasn’t close to his peak yet and was only getting back to playing regularly.
The matchup itself is a really hard one for Rublev because he’ll have to break down Djokovic in a rally and that’s really hard to do. Not overhitting will also be a concern but that’s something that happens often with Rublev.
It would be madness to back anything but a Djokovic victory in this one so we will back him to win, quite easily so.
Tip: Match Handicap Djokovic -6.5: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
