Karen Khachanov v Stefanos Tsitsipas
This is a very interesting matchup between two players who played really well so far. Tsitsipas has traditionally done well in Australia but never advanced past the semi-final. Khachanov did well at grand slams before but never advanced to a final before.
Both players have a similar game, they’re quite tall and move rather well. Both have a strong forehand although Tsitsipas has a better one. The serve is a major weapon for both and they get many free points from it, especially early on in the match.
The H2H heavily favours Tsitsipas as he won 5 of the six matches they played. One was last year and Tstisipas won that in Rome however the most important one was won by Khachanov (Olympic Games).
It’s going to be a tricky match for Tsitsipas but also one he’s expected to win. There is a good chance this goes deep but either way, Khachanov should win at least a set.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win AND Both players to win a set: 5/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Novak Djokovic v Tommy Paul
Novak Djokovic has dealt with an injury this year in Melbourne but it didn’t matter much. He’s been beating players easily since the start and Tommy Paul will try to change that. Tennis-wise he’ll have trouble doing that but one thing he has going for him is his attitude.
Don’t expect him to be scared as de Mianur was but expect him to take it head-on. Will he play well enough to win? Probably not but he’ll certainly try more than the other players tried. Paul has had an amazing two weeks and his game is dangerous.
A good serve and powerful groundstrokes is the way to hurt Djokovic but you need to be very consistent with it. Paul has generally been anything but that but we’ll see. Perhaps this is his year.
They never played before oddly so that’s something Djokovic will have to figure out on the fly. It’s not ideal but he’s never lost a semi-final here so, the odds favour him. We think he’ll do it comfortably.
Tip: Djokovic to win in straight sets: 8/13 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Aoyama/Shibahara v Gauff/Pegula
Gauff and Pegula both fell short in the singles but they will both be hoping to at least win the doubles in Melbourne. It’s something they failed to do so far even though they’re one of the best doubles teams in the world. Their run here certainly proved that as well as they only dropped one set so far.
Their opponents are pretty strong doubles players as well but not as highly ranked as the Americans. They also dropped only one set en route to the final showing really strong tennis. This is a matchup that is tricky to predict. Many things can happen in doubles and Gauff and Pegula have yet to win a big one.
There is a reason for that even though they were close a couple of times. The value here sits in them winning in straight sets but it’s a risky play. Some odd bounce here and there and things can get out of control.
It’s the value play but be careful. They are the better pairing and have played for longer together.
Tip: Gauff/Pegula to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
