Linda Noskova v Mayar Sherif Head to Head

It’s been a woeful year so far for Garbine Muguruza and it turned worse when Noskova sent her to another opening round loss.
Noskova, who has risen to her career-best ranking of 56th in the world, sent Muguruza to a 6-1, 6-4 loss in an hour and 14 minutes to claim another second round spot in the tournament.
Having made the final at the Adelaide International as a qualifier, Noskova had failed to make the main draw at the Australian Open but followed that up with successive wins in the qualifying rounds to enter the first round here.
And in just an hour and 14 minutes, Noskova sent the multiple Grand Slam winner on her way as she broke Muguruza four times in the encounter.

Sherif Benefits from Konjuh Retirement
She needed just an hour and three minutes on court before Sherif waltzed into the second round here, as her opponent Ana Konjuh retired from their opening encounter in the second set.
Sherif was leading 6-2, 3-2 in the encounter before Konjuh opted out of the match to give her a free pass into the second round. This was Sherif’s first main draw victory of the season, following on from a qualifying loss at Adelaide, and opening defeats at both, Hobart and Australian Open.
The Egyptian player saved all three of the break-points she faced while breaking her opponent twice in the first set. Things were on serve in the second and could have turned interesting as Konjuh looked to have found her serving rhythm before she couldn’t continue because of fitness concerns.
