Stan Wawrinka v Ryan Harrison to Head
This is the first time that the two players will go head to head at the highest level on the ATP Tour.
Wawrinka Looking Sharp
After spending a significant amount of time trying to regain his confidence and form, the Swiss has finally had some success this year.
He reached his first singles final since 2017 on the tour in Rotterdam, where he had a remarkable run after defeating Milos Raonic, Denis Shapovalov, and Kei Nishikori. In the final, he ran into the Frenchman Gael Monfils where he lost in three sets.
Nonetheless, the 300 ranking points he gained there helped him move into the top 50 and now, Wawrinka will seek to build on his recent form further. Earlier this year, the 2017 French Open runner-up was also a quarterfinalist in Qatar where he lost to Roberto Bautista Agut in the final.
Harrison Hoping for a Major Resurgence
The 26-year-old, who is currently ranked as the World No. 93, hasn’t had much success at the highest level of tennis except for a singles title a couple of runner-up trophies.
He started as a qualifier in Acapulco and made it to the main draw after some quality tennis. So far this season, he has barely moved past the early rounds in all the competitions he has played in. His Australian Open Series was less than exciting as his best run came in Melbourne where he lost to Daniil Medvedev in the second round.
Harrison then switched to the Challenger circuit where he played at an event in Dallas. There too, he lost his opening match. Most recently, he played in the ATP New York, where he lost to Paolo Lorenzi in the second round.
Wawrinka v Harrison Predictions & Tips
Wawrinka will start this match as the favorite to win with Betway’s offering 4/11. It is quite unlikely that Harrison will be able to deliver the massive upset right in the first round. However, the chances do exist with the same bookmaker offering 2/1 for the American to win.
