Huesler Defeats Van Assche in Three
Marc-Andrea Huesler began his Montpellier campaign in the first round, straight from his victorious Davis Cup showing at the weekend.
Huesler notched two massive wins for Switzerland, beating Oscar Otte and Alexander Zverev, before Stan Wawrinka sealed their place in the Davis Cup Finals.
The 26-year-old commuted to Montpellier in just a few days to defeat Luca Van Assche, the 18-year-0ld Frenchman whose stock is rising rapidly.
Huesler needed his serve to bail him out in many close games. He saved five of six break points he faced while winning 87% first-serve points. The Swiss also hammered 13 aces to win 6-3 3-6 6-3 in an hour and 51 minutes.
