Borna Coric v Arthur Rinderknech Head to Head
Coric won their only meeting at the United Cup earlier this year, winning in straight sets, but both needed tiebreaks to decide the winner.

Coric Coming off Back-to-Back Wins in Davis Cup
After a couple of years of struggle with form, injury and shoulder surgery, Borna Coric reemerged as a threat in 2022.
The Croatian, who had won two titles from seven finals till 2020, won his first Masters title in Cincinnati last year, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. He had begun the tournament as the world no. 152 but a triumphant run to his first Masters 1000 crown propelled him into the top 30.
Coric didn’t win another tournament, but put up couple of solid performances to finish the season.
There were expectations from him this year as well, but the world no. 23 is yet to have a major impact. He went 2-1 at the United Cup and lost in the opening round at the Australian Open. Most recently Coric defeated Dennis Novak and Dominic Thiem during Croatia’s Davis Cup tie against Austria.
Coric is returning to Montpellier for the first time in six years. The third seed, who received a first-round bye, has a 0-2 record in the tournament. Can he open his account in Montpellier on Thurrsday?

Rinderknech Ousts Nardi
World no. 68 Arthur Rinderknech snapped a three-match losing streak by winning his opening round match against qualifier Luca Nardi on Wednesday.
The Frenchman broke once in the opening set to take a one-set-to-love lead. The two players then exchanged an early break in the second set, before Rinderknech broke a second time in the seventh game and held on for a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
This was Rinderknech’s first win of the calendar year and a second this season. He had won his first match at the United Cup on December 29, since then he suffered a loss to Coric in his second United Cup match and then made first round exits from Adelaide-2 and the Australian Open.
The 27-year-old will be happy to have ended the losing streak and will now look to build on the momentum and reach the standards he achieved last year. He had finished 2022 with a 22-19 record at the tour level and a 38-24 run overall.
He also reached his first tour level final in Adelaide, won his fourth Challenger title and peaked to a career high of no. 42 last year.
Coric v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip
Coric is the more experienced player, he produced big results against top opponents last year and is in top form at the moment. Rinderknech on the other hand has had a shaky start. Therefore, it is the Croatian who is expected to win the contest.
