Our 2023 WTA Qatar Open Predictions & Picks
Last year it was at this very tournament that Iga Swiatek kickstarted one of the most jaw-dropping win streaks in recent memory. The Polish World No. 1 dropped a single set all week and went on to win her first WTA title in the Arab peninsula.
Swiatek, however, has not begun 2023 in a similarly rich vein of form. She has looked vulnerable and beatable. And one of the players who has tasted success against her this year is Jessica Pegula who is the second seed in Doha.
The price on the American will be of genuine interest when the outright odds are released.
Another player who is worth backing at this tournament whenever she plays is Petra Kvitova. The Czech lefty has reached three finals in eight visits and collected two titles. Kvitova has also made the quarterfinals or better seven times, bar last year’s shocker when she lost in the second round.
