Our 2023 ATP Delray Beach Open Predictions & Picks

Is there a more in-form American than Tommy Paul right now? The 25-year-old from New Jersey reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open where he lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Paul, however, wasn’t downbeat with the result and was back on the court, helping his country qualify for the Davis Cup Finals later this year. If Paul gets a cushy draw in the early rounds, he will ride on this wave of momentum.

Another player we think could be in a for a momentous week is Ben Shelton. The 20-year-old who is juggling studies with professional tennis had a breakthrough run at the Australian Open last month.

Incidentally, it was Paul who prevented Shelton from getting further than the quarterfinal in Melbourne and they could clash again here. Last week Shelton pulled out from Dallas, so I expect him to be fully recharged here and is our dark horse in the outright market.
