Karolina Muchova v Martina Trevisan Head to Head

This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Muchova on a Slow Roll

Karolina Muchova has competed in only two tournaments this season – the ASB Classic and the Australian Open. In the first one, she reached the quarterfinal – courtesy of easy wins over Xiyu Wang and Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

In the Melbourne Slam, the Czech made it as far as round two before bowing to Danielle Collins 7-6(1), 2-6, 6-7(6).

Clearly, Muchova is yet to reach the previous form that took her to the top 30 and made her a solid contender for big titles. Plagued with injury and the consequent loss in form, the 26-year-old has been forced to build her momentum again. Last season, her record was 11-12, with her highlights being round-three stints in Tallinn and the French Open.

Owing to these lacklustre results, Karolina is now ranked #121.

Trevisan, Struggling on Hard Courts

World No. 25 Martina Trevisan finds herself struggling to deliver in hard-court tournaments. Her record for the season is 2-5, with both those wins coming in the United Cup against Maria Sakkari and Malene Helgo.

In the Aus Open, the Italian No. 1 was dispatched by Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in straight sets in the first round. Similarly, in Abu Dhabi last week, Elise Mertens handed her a tough 0-6, 2-6 defeat in the opening match.

Trevisan has always been a clay-court specialist, evident from her standing of 15-7 on the surface in 2022. She rose to prominence after a title run in Rabat and a final-four stint in Paris. Since then, however, it’s largely been mediocre tennis from her end.

Muchova v Trevisan Prediction and Tip

Muchova, despite her lack of momentum, has a good chance of winning this one. On the other side, Trevisan’s hard-court struggles will likely continue here as well, but then again, her opponent is out of form so the Italian has a chance.

Between the two, Muchova has better odds.
