It’s been a great start to the season for J.J. Wolf as a result of which the 24-year-old broke into the top 40 on Monday for the first time in his career.
Ranked no. 39th in the world, Wolf is 7-3 in 2023. He was slow off the blocks, wining one and losing one in Auckland but made an impressive debut at the Australian Open.
Wolf defeated Jordan Thompson, Diego Schwartzman and Michael Mmoh respectively before falling to the equally impressive Ben Shelton in the Round of 16.
He followed that up with a run to the semifinals at the Dallas Open last week. Wolf won the first two rounds against Brandon Holt and Radu Albot respectively and then fought back from a break down to beat Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinal. He was eventually stopped in the semifinals by John Isner, who overturned a one-set deficit to end Wolf’s promising run.
Wolf has reached one final in his career and that was at the Florence Open last year. He has won five Challenger titles from six finals.
At Delray Beach, Wolf will be making his main draw debut and will be looking to make another deep run.

Ivashka Looking for First Win of 2023
World no. 77 Ilya Ivashka brings a 0-2 record to Delray Beach.
The 28-year-old Belarusian lost to Botic van de Zandschulp in the opening round of the Australian Open and then suffered a tough three-set defeat to Jack Sock in the opening round in Dallas last week.
Ivashka, who won his only ATP title at the Winston Salem Open in 2021, has neevr played n Delray Beach before.
He had a mixed 2022 season, finishing with a 23-24 record, which included a run to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Open. It was only the second time that he had reached that far in a major.
In addition, he was a semifinalist in Atlanta and had four other quarterfinals finishes.
Having not succeeded in winning a match so far, Ivashka will hope to get back to winning ways in the opener, but faces an uphill task against the fast-improving Wolf.
Wolf v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
Wolf is in excellent form at the moment, while Ivashka is struggling and therefore the former holds the edge in this contest. Expect Wolf to advance for a second round meeting with Adrian Mannarino or Daniel Altmaier.
