Stan Wawrinka v Richard Gasquet Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Gasquet leads 3-1 on head to head.
They go a long way back, having first faced off in 2006, followed by a couple of matches in 2013 and 2015. The last of their meetings came in 2022 in Antwerp where Gasquet won in three.

Wawrinka Goes Past Bublik
A former winner of this event, Wawrinka was drawn to play Alexander Bublik in the first round here and despite his own poor form, the Swiss player had started off as a favourite in the encounter.
And an hour and 39 minutes later, Wawrinka managed to live up to that tag, defeating Bublik in straight sets.
Wawrinka saved the only break-point he faced in the entire match to clinch a second round berth with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 victory over Bublik. Losing just six points on his serve in the first set – that was across six games too – Wawrinka forged ahead despite being unable to break his opponent in the ensuing tie-breaker.
In the second set, Wawrinka had more difficulties holding on to his serve than the first but also found a way to get past Bublik’s service once.
That’s all he needed to make it through, winning just his second ATP match of the season. Can he now take down the very experienced Gasquet here?

Gasquet Prevents Three-Match Losing Streak
Despite being a 17/10 underdog in his opening round encounter against Pablo Carreno Busta, Gasquet found a way to get past his 16th-ranked opponent. And this was after the Frenchman dropped the first set.
Carreno Busta wasn’t in the brightest of form coming into the match but that did not mean he did not have his chances.
The Spaniard surged ahead with two breaks of serves in the very first set and then took a 4-2 lead in the second set. At this point Gasquet looked like he was going down, with nothing to offer in terms of resistance.
It was his second break-point of the set that allowed Gasquet to break back, take the set into a tie-breaker which he then won 7-2 to level things out.
And then in the final, the Auckland Open winner broke back to back Carreno Busta serves to take a 4-0 lead and served it out to love to enter round two.
We have seen how Gasquet goes once he gets on a roll and that’s how it could go here too.
