Hubert Hurkacz v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these players and Dimitrov has won both of them.
The first of those came at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters and Dimitrov advances to the semis with that win. He made it 2-0 with a victory at the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters.
Interestingly, both matches went into a final set tie-breaker.

It took Hurkacz three sets, two of which were tie-breakers, to go past Roberto Bautista-Agut in the first round of this competition with the match lasting over three hours.
Hurkacz won 7-5, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (4) to advance to round two in a match in which he blasted 26 aces and yet struggled to make a dent in his opponent’s resolve.
The first set was separated by three break-points – all three against Bautista-Agut, of which he saved two and dropped his serve once late in the set. The pair traded serves in the third and fourth games of the second set but it was in the tie-breaker that all the excitement took place.
Hurkacz raced off to a 6-3 lead and held three match-points as a result but lost four points in a row in the process of losing the set.
He had a chance to serve out the match at 5-4 in the third set too but again, got broken and when he dropped two of the three match-points he had in the following tie-breaker, it could have broken anyone down.
Not Hurkacz, who finally converted it off his sixth match-point in the match to progress.

Dimitrov Routs Karatsev
While Hurkacz was involved in a painstakingly close battle for a place in the second round, Dimitrov did not face too many difficulties in killing off Karatsev’s chances in the tournament.
Dimitrov routed Karatsev 6-1, 6-3 in less than an hour to seal his second round place.
Such was the lopsidedness of the match that Dimitrov won 21 of the 22 first serve points in the match, and 61% of the second serve points as well. He faced no break-points in the encounter while breaking his opponent four of the five times he got a chance.
This follows Dimitrov’s third round appearance at the Australian Open. Can the 2018 finalist now make it two tournaments in a row with successive wins?
Hurkacz v Dimitrov Prediction and Tip
Hurkacz will be far more exhausted than Dimitrov and that could actually work in the Bulgarian’s favour here. The Pole’s fighting spirit will help though and we can expect another three setter in this.
