Grigor Dimitrov v Alex de Minaur Head to Head

There have been three previous matches between Dimitrov and de Minaur. De Minaur leads 2-1 which includes a win in their last meeting at the 2022 Montreal Masters.

Dimitrov Squeaks Past Hurkacz

While admitted Hubert Hurkacz hasn’t quite shown the kind of form he had in the first half of the previous season, he was always expected to be a force to reckon in his second round match against Dimitrov.

Which is why, he was a slight favourite at 5/6 to win their match but Dimitrov proved he can put up a brave, stodgy front when needed.

Dimitrov came away a winner in his second round match, clinching his place in the last eight with a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) victory in a little less than two hours.

This followed a first round victory over Aslan Karatsev, where Dimitrov dropped just four games. Given the nature of these two victories and his third round appearance at the Australian Open and a win over David Goffin at the United Cup, Dimitrov looks like he has found some consistency at the highest level.

Can he now make it to his first ATP semifinal since the Vienna Open last October?

De Minaur Manages Win over Cressy

After a first round shock win over Andrey Rublev, de Minaur found a way to dig deep and get past Maxime Cressy in the second round of this competition.

The Aussie registered a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win over his 40th-ranked opponent in a match that lasted a touch over two hours.

De Minaur dropped his serve twice in the encounter – once apiece in the first and second set – but managed to get past his opponent’s second serve and break him back three times. Cressy struggled in the entire match with his second serve, winning a mere 44% of those points even as de Minaur himself clinched 71% and 74% of his first and second serves.

Earlier this season, de Minaur had made the fourth round at the Australian Open to signal his good form and with a win over Rafael Nadal (at the United Cup) and Rublev already under his belt, he looks ready to take that big move forward.

Dimitrov v de Minaur Prediction and Tip

De Minaur holds the edge in this one at 4/5 and we will have to agree with that. While Dimitrov’s form isn’t something to be scoffed at, we think he might find it difficult to maintain that kind of consistency here.
