Stefanos Tsitsipas v Gael Monfils Head to Head

The two players have met twice on the ATP Tour and the head to head tally is evenly tied at 1-1. They met as recently as in Sofia a couple of weeks back, where Monfils defeated the Greek in the quarterfinal.

Monfils Continues to Enjoy His Resurgence

After spending quite a bit of time on the sidelines struggling with his form, it is now evident that Monfils is finally back to his former self. He is stronger, better, and more impressive than ever.

Having won his first singles title of the season in Rotterdam a few weeks back, he has now broken into the top 30 with ruthless display of character and brilliance. It was a dream run of sorts for Monfils in that competition, where he defeated the likes of Stan Wawrinka, Daniil Medvedev, and David Goffin.

He started his campaign in Dubai on the same note, starting with a three-set victory over the Croat No. 1 Marin Cilic. After that, he moved past Marcos Baghdatis and Ricardas Berankis comfortably to set up the semifinal clash with Tsitsipas. With those three wins here, his win-loss tally now stands at 12-2.

Having already registered some good victories so far in the year, it is not hard to imagine Monfils going the distance in Dubai.

However, Tsitsipas has Been Great Too…

One of the many reasons why this promises to be an epic fixture is because Tsitsipas has been in an equally remarkable form of late. He came to Dubai full of confidence after winning the Open 13 in Marseille last week.

He also had a brilliant run in the Australian Open, where he was the semifinalist. He ultimately lost to Rafael Nadal but not before knocking out the two-time defending champion Roger Federer.

The 20-year-old has been working quite hard over the course of the last year or so. He has done well to reach the 11th position and now, it is only a matter of time before he breaks into the top 10. So far in Dubai, his victims have been Matthew Ebden, Egor Gerasimov, and most recently, Hubert Hurkacz.

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Gael Monfils Predictions & Tips

This fixture is evenly matched and can very well go either way. However, smart money would be on this being a three-set affair.
