Roger Federer v Borna Coric Head to Head
The two players have met four times on the ATP circuit and are tied at 2-2. Coric has won his last two matches against Federer, both in 2018, at the finals at Halle and semi-finals at the Shanghai Masters.
The two also met in the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Masters last year, which Federer won in a close encounter. They have also met in Dubai in 2015, which Federer won convincingly.
Federer Two Wins Away From #100
Roger Federer’s week of difficult matches continued against Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the quarter finals in Dubai. Although Federer won in straight sets, he was two set points down in the first set tiebreak and seemed troubled by a mix of the gusty conditions, his game not upto the mark and a solid performance by Fucsovics.
Federer got off to a strong start in the second set with a break of serve early, but was broken back as a result of some indifferent shot making by him. The Swiss was however able to apply pressure when needed, and close out in straight sets.
Federer is now two matches away from the coveted 100th title, but will need to step up his game here on. The remaining players in the draw are two members of “Next Gen” who have both beaten the Swiss Maestro in recent times, and Gael Monfils who is in some of the best form of his life.

Can Coric Make it Three In a Row?
“Next Gen” Croat Borna Coric had the best year of his career in 2018, and will be hoping 2019 follows a similar pattern, if not better. Coric has not yet quite looked the player in 2019 that he was last year.
An indifferent Australian Open with a disappointing loss to Lucas Pouille was followed by an early loss at the ATP 250 at Marseille. The road to the semi-finals at Dubai has not been smooth for Coric, with all his matches going to a decider, twice having to come back from a set down.
Coric won both his matches against Federer in 2018, and will be looking to make it three in a row, not something one often gets to accomplish against Roger Federer.
Roger Federer v Borna Coric Predictions & Tips
Coric knows what it takes to beat Federer, and with his gritty attitude, ability to grind from the baseline, and an underrated, yet effective serve, will believe that he can make it three in a row. However, Coric has not quite been in the same form yet. Federer, on the other hand, though rusty himself, will take heart from the fact that he has qualified from the semi-finals, despite not being at his peak yet. A close match on the cards, but expect Federer to make another final in Dubai in straight sets.
Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5 (Betway)
