Belinda Bencic v Marta Kostyuk Head to Head
It’s 2-0 to Bencic; they last met in Abu Dhabi a few weeks ago, where Belinda won in straight sets.

Bencic in a Superb Form
Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic has enjoyed an enviable start to the season. Her record is 14-2 – supported by two singles titles from Adelaide and WTA Abu Dhabi. In both these WTA 500 events, she dismissed a handful of big names like Caroline Garcia, Garbine Muguruza, Daria Kasatkina, and Liudmila Samsonova.
Moreover, the 25-year-old reached the fourth round in the Australian Open and the quarterfinal in Doha before withdrawing from the event, citing health reasons.
On the back of these deep runs, Bencic is in the top 10 again, ranked No. 9.
The number eight seed has a decent track record in Dubai, winning the tournament in 2019. Add to this her superior experience and a fabulous 2022 spell of 42-18, it is hard to dismiss her chances of going deep this time too.

Kostyuk Dismisses Oz
Marta Kostyuk started her campaign in Dubai with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Turkey’s Ipek Oz in the first round. The match lasted for precisely two hours and saw the Ukrainian win 84% of the points behind the first serve, along with dishing out six aces and converting seven break points.
She is now 10-5 – which is not a bad place to be in, by all means. The 20-year-old is World No. 55 and has had a few good runs in 2023.
The best result was her quarterfinal stint in Adelaide 1, where, as a qualifier, she beat Jaimee Fourlis and Elena Rybakina. Kostyuk reached the same stage in the Thailand Open and round three in the Aus Open.
Bencic v Kostyuk Prediction and Tip
There’s no doubt that Marta is young and lacks experience compared to Bencic, but she has improved tremendously as a player year-on-year. Let’s not forget that she has gained some traction on the doubles circuit – most recently reaching the semifinal in the Melbourne Slam with Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
These feats may not translate into a straight-forward win over the Swiss, but it sure does put her in good contention. Bencic remains the odds-on favourite but with Kostyuk at 10/3 to win, punters may want to consider backing her.
Tips:
