Daniil Medvedev v Liam Broady Head to Head
While no matches have been played at the highest level between these two, they did face off on the Challenger circuit back in 2016. Medvedev had won that qualifier in straight sets.

It has been some time coming but Medvedev finally managed to notch up a run in a tournament he can truly be proud of. Featuring in the Rotterdam Open last week, Medvedev pulled some good wins over quality opponents to go on to win the title.
That was Medvedev’s first tournament win of the season and it came on the back of a third round exit at the Australian Open not so long ago.
What was fascinating about Medvedev lifting the trophy was that it consisted of wins over some of the trickiest players on tour; he began with a hard-fought win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina before finishing off Botic van de Zandschulp’s chances in the second.
And it was after that the things got serious as Medvedev needed to get past Felix Auger-Aliassime, Grigor Dimitrov and then Jannik Sinner in the final to come through for the win.
With that kind of confidence under his belt, Medvedev will hope he can continue with the Rotterdam run here too.

Broady Struggles Past Fellow Qualifier
Oleksii Krutykh hasn’t won a round at the highest level all his career but for a brief moment he might have harboured hopes of doing just that against Liam Broady in the first round here.
Broady might have broken Krutykh six times in the entire encounter and lost his serve on only four occasions in return but in the final set he was down 3-1 at one point.
He levelled things off and then broke again, only to lose serve at 5-3 in the final set. Krutykh pushed it into a tie-breaker but that’s about the fight he could muster up as Broady won 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (2).
Earlier this season, Broady had won a title on the Challenger circuit but at the highest level this was his first win for the season. It’s difficult to see him make it two in two.
