Felix Auger-Aliassime v Jason Kubler Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the Newport Open last season and Kubler had won that in a third set tie-breaker.

Auger-Aliassime Still Finding His Feet for the Season

It’s not been the kind of a start that Auger-Alissime would have liked for 2023 so far. In the three tournaments he has played so far, he has won just five matches including a fourth round exit at the Australian Open where he crashed out to Jiri Lehecka.

Earlier, it was Alexei Popyrin who had gotten the better of him in the first round at the Adelaide International.

More recently, Auger-Aliassime returned to competitive tennis after nearly four weeks off with a couple of resounding performances in Rotterdam to reach the quarterfinal. He then had the misfortune of meeting a rampaging Daniil Medvedev that early and fell to a straight-set loss, continuing his less than extraordinary run for the season.

Can he turn things around here as he faces another tricky opening opponent?

Kubler Goes Past the Injured Karatsev

Australia’s Jason Kubler faced a challenging opening set before going past Aslan Karatsev in the opening round after his Russian opponent retired from their contest early in the second set. Kubler was 7-6 (4), 1-0 up before Karatsev decided to opt out of the contest because of injury.

This follows an interesting start to the season for Kubler who had already won four matches and lost just two so far this year.

It started with successive wins at the United Cup and second round appearances at both, the Adelaide International 2 and Australian Open.

More recently, Kubler opted to take part in the Manama Challenger as he returned to tennis following his Australian Open sojourn and made it through to the quarterfinal there. He has a tough second round match here against Auger-Aliassime but will take comfort from the fact he’s beaten him before.

Auger-Aliassime v Kubler Prediction and Tip

Auger-Aliassime, despite his current form issues, starts off 1/6 to win this and 4/7 to do that in straight sets. While we think a straight set win looks very likely for the Canadian, it could also be filled with a tough set or two.
