Mikael Ymer v Radu Albot Head to Head

This will be the first career meeting between World No. 69 Mikael Ymer and World No. 99 Radu Albot.

Ymer Loses to Griekspoor in Rotterdam

Mikael Ymer lost in the first round in his most recent tournament which came at the ATP 500 in Rotterdam. The Swede qualified for the event, beating Borna Gojo and Roman Safiullin, but lost narrowly to home favorite Tallon Griekspoor 7-6 7-5 in the first round.

Ymer is looking to break the top 60, which has been his higher ceiling. He’s taken some positive steps to do that with the kind of form he is showing in the opening quarter of the season.

The 24-year-old started his season in Adelaide 1, but lost early there. He made a bigger impression in Adelaide 2 where he notched wins over Emil Ruusuvuori and Mackenzie McDonald before falling to eventual champion Soonwoo Kwon.

Ymer had a very tough time at the Australian Open, playing a seeded player Yoshihito Nishioka. He lost to the Japanese lefty in straight sets. That prompted the Swede to sign up for an ATP Challenger tournament in the middle of a Grand Slam, and went all the way to the final, losing to seasoned Tour-level campaigner David Goffin at the Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve Challenger.

Albot Switches Continents

Radu Albot, meanwhile, started his season in Pune where he lost in the first round to van Rijthoven. He failed to qualify for the Australian Open, and traveled to Europe to play a couple of ATP Challenger tournaments to get his campaign up and running.

He did just that in Quimper, beating Alexandre Muller and Antoine Bellier to reach the quarterfinal. However, he lost to Geoffrey Blancaneaux in straight sets.

Albot scattered to North America to play the US double header of Dallas and Delray. Given his record in Delray in the past, he was able to summon his best tennis. Albot rolled back the years and scored one of the biggest wins of his career when he knocked out Tommy Paul in the quarterfinal by an incredible score – 6-2 6-2.

However, his campaign ended in the last four at the hands of Miomir Kecmanovic.

Ymer v Albot Prediction and Tip

On outdoor hard courts, Albot would have had a look-in at some of Ymer’s service games. But under the roof, the Swede is explosive and not easily contained. Expect Ymer to overwhelm the Moldovan here.
