Jessica Pegula v Karolina Muchova
Jessica Pegula has been playing well for a few weeks now and she’s looking to make another semi-final. Standing in her way is Karolina Muchova who rediscovered some of her good tennis this week. It will be their first meeting so not much either can go by from previous matches.
Pegula has been a force in tennis for over a year now and the conditions here suit her. She dealt well with them last week in Doha and Dubai might actually suit her a bit more. It gives her more time to unload her devastating groundstrokes and that’s going to be the main problem for Muchova.
The Czech player is quite similar. She has a powerful serve which is useful and she has really good groundstrokes. She’s not as stable as Pegula in rallies and does make more mistakes on average however she’s not quite what I would call streaky either.
I do expect Pegula to win this one but it’s going to be close. There is really good value in trying the over because Muchova on a roll is very dangerous.
Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Coco Gauff v Madison Keys
Coco Gauff advanced to the quarter-final thanks to a withdrawal by Elena Rybakina who most likely would have beaten the America. It was my expectation personally that Gauff would not win that matchup and somehow I think she won’t win this one either.
It’s tough to say because they played twice so far and both have one win. It’s a matchup which Keys could win because Gauff has struggled in the past with heavy hitters like Keys. The older American has also been on a roll and the destruction of Azarenka proves that.
The biggest problem for Gauff is that she can’t really handle Keys in the rallies because her forehand is not good enough. She will cover the court and on many balls but that doesn’t mean much.
I’d pick Keys to win between the two but we’re going to keep it safe and play the over. Even if she loses, I think Gauff can win a set.
Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Grigor Dimitrov v Gijs Brouwer
Both of these players were in action last week in Rotterdam and both had strong events. They are similar players in the way they approach the game but Dimitrov is a far better player and more accomplished. This will be their first career meeting which could be dangerous for Grigor.
Brouwer is a very tricky player to face if you never played him. His playstyle isn’t something you never saw before but when he’s feeling it, he is tough to handle. This being indoors will certainly play into his strengths but Dimitrov is no slouch either.
He was amazing in Rotterdam hitting both the forehand and backhand beautifully. The serve was also on point and when things go that way it’s really hard to defeat him.
The best option here would be the over because I genuinely can see it happening however Dimitrov should win. The odd is not great which is why we’ll try to be bold and predict that Brouwer takes at least one set.
Tip: Brouwer to win a set: 21/20 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
