Andrey Rublev v Jiri Lehecka Head to Head
Rublev won their only meeting in the Round of 16 in Belgrade last year.

Rublev Fends Off Three MPs
World no. 5 Andrey Rublev showed nerves of steel as he fended off three match points against Tallon Griekspoor in a round of 16 contest on Wednesday before edging past the Dutchman in a one-hour-and-52-minute contest.
The top seed, who had received a first round bye, was outplayed by the world no. 40 in the first set. Broken twice in the first set, Rublev won just 5 of 21 return points and did not create a single break point as he lost the set 1-6.
He turned the tables on the Dutchman in the second set, not facing a break point, while converting 2 of 2 to force the decider.
Griekspoor raced to a 3-0 lead in the third set and then served for the match at 5-3. However, he could not close out the match as Rublev refused to go down. The Russian saved three match points in that game to keep his chances alive and then went on to win the match in the tiebreak, converting a third match point.
The win ended a two-match losing streak for Rublev, who was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal of the Australian Open and by Alex de Minaur in the opening round in Rotterdam.
Rublev has an excellent record in Doha. The 25-year-old had won one of his 12 career titles in this tournament in 2020. He was also a finalist in 2018 and had made it to the semifinals in 2021. Can he reach the semifinals for the fourth time in Qatar? It will also be his first semifinal of the season.

Lehecka Eliminates Ruusuvuori
Jiri Lehecka continued to impress with another straight sets win on Wednesday that lifted him into the second quarterfinal of the season.
The 21-year-old Czech, who made a stunning run to the last eight of the Australian Open, which included wins over Cameron Norrie and Felix Auger Aliassime, defeated Emil Ruusuvuori on Wednesday to make it to the last eight in Qatar.
The world no. 52 won 89% points on the back of his first serve, saved the only break point that he faced in the match and converted 2 of the 6 breaking opportunities he held to beat the Finn 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).
Lehecka had a similar start against Damir Dzumhur in the first round, beating the qualifier 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
Thanks to the two wins, the 2022 NextGen finalist has improved his season record to 12-3 across levels. He is currently on a four-match win streak having won both his Davis Cup matches against Portugal earlier this month.
Given his form he is expected to make things difficult for the top seed. Can he pull off a second top 10 win of the season on Thursday?
Rublev v Lehecka Prediction and Tip
Rublev is far more experienced than the Czech and knows how to handle big-match pressure in later stages of a tournament. Over the last few years, Rublev has consistently made deep runs in the tournaments that he has featured in.
Lehecka on the other hand has been more successful than Rublev this year and has accumulated a lot more wins than the Russian. He has also accounted for some top names this season.
It will be an exciting contest, which may go the distance. But in the end Rublev is expected to emerge victorious.
