Sebastian Baez v Nicolas Jarry Head to Head
No previous ATP matches have been played between these two. Baez won their only previous match on the Challenger circuit in 2021

Baez Tames Varillas Challenge in Tough Match
It turned out to be a straight-set win alright for Baez but not before he had been tested to the hilt by Juan Pablo Varillas in the second round.
In a match lasting two hours and 13 minutes, Baez scraped past his in-form Peruvian opponent to win 7-5, 7-6 (6) and enter the last eight stage. The Argentine, who had won the Cordoba Open two weeks ago but followed it up with an opening loss in Buenos Aires, needed to overcome five breaks of serves spread across the two sets.
In return, he broke Varillas six times, including four times in the first set to escape with a win.
Things should have been a lot easier for Baez after he raced away to a 5-1 lead but was then broken two times in a row. He held on to edge ahead 6-5 before clinching the opening set with a last-ditch break.
The second set saw something similar when Baez frittered away a 5-3 lead as he lost his serve twice in a row. Varillas had a chance to serve out the set but was broken before Baez clinched it in the ensuing tie-breaker.
Can he now ease his way past a player who has fallen more than 100 places off his career-best ranking?

Jarry Crushes Martinez
Pedro Martinez is in such poor form that he went into his second round match as a 21/10 odds underdog against Jarry. And Jarry ensured he would live up to those as he pressed past Martinez in a mere hour and a half for a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Facing just two break-points in the entire match, Jarry saved them both while cracking the Martinez serve on two occasions in each of the sets.
This win follows Jarry’s successive straight-set victories in the qualifiers before he stunned Lorenzo Musetti in the first round here. What was impressive about his win over Musetti was how he managed to drop just five games in that encounter.
Can he now test the in-form Baez in this quarterfinal?
Baez v Jarry Prediction and Tip
Baez is a 4/5 favourite which are quite tempting odds given his recent form. Sure he was stretched by Varillas but that was an opponent doing well himself. Backing a Baez win here.
