Carlos Alcaraz v Dusan Lajovic Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Alcaraz has won both. Their more recent match came at the Argentina Open last week and Alcaraz had won that quarterfinal in straight sets.

Alcaraz Struggles against Fognini
Alcaraz made it his sixth win in a row for the season but it took him time and patience to get past Italy’s Fabio Fognini in their second round encounter.
In a match lasting two hours and 46 minutes, Alcaraz overcame the loss of the first tie-breaker to seal off his quarterfinal berth. He won 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 in a gruelling match.
After winning the Argentina Open last week and eased to a straight-set win over Mateus Alves in the first round here, Alcaraz was expected to steamroll the struggling Fognini in the second. Some very poor serving from Alcaraz, however, ensured he wouldn’t have it very too easy.
Winning just 31% of his second serve points in the opening set, Alcaraz was broken five times in it and while he did the same to Fognini it wasn’t enough as the Italian found a way to win the tie-breaker.
Things improved drastically for Alcaraz in the second set as he raced off to a 4-0 lead and soon levelled the score. Two breaks of serves followed soon after in the decider as well, and while Alcaraz dropped his serve once it wasn’t enough for Fognini to mount a comeback.
The Spaniard would hope to do a lot better with his serve in the quarterfinals.

Lajovic Stuns Fellow Serb
In an all-Serb battle, Lajovic was never expected to come through in his second round match against Laslo Djere but did so very easily.
The match lasted a mere 79 minutes with Lajovic carving out a 6-2, 6-4 win over Djere to seal his place next to Alcaraz. This followed a shock win for Lajovic in the first round over Diego Schwartzman as well.
Lajovic had break-point opportunities in three of the four games on his opponent’s serve in the first set and converted it twice. In the second, Lajovic fell 0-3 down at one stage but then rattled off two breaks and six of the next seven games to progress through.
This quarterfinal appearance follows another last eight showing last week as well, in Argentina. More interestingly he had lost to Alcaraz in that match there.
Can he change that result this time?
Alcaraz v Lajovic Prediction and Tip
Alcaraz’s second serves would be a concern for him and one can expect Lajovic to go after them. Will that be enough though? If Alcaraz doesn’t serve too well and Lajovic can play to the level he has since the start of the previous week we could see the Serb win a set. Unlikely.
