Our 2023 WTA ATX Open Predictions & Picks
Magda Linette produced a tepid showing in Merida, although it could be argued, playing in her first tournament in almost a month she was bound to be rusty. Nonetheless, we like the look of the Pole to go deep in Austin.
Danielle Collins is the top-ranked American in the draw. Collins lost a huge chunk of ranking points last month after her failure to defend finalist points from last year’s Australian Open. She will be keen to make her mark on home soil.
Collins isn’t the only American who will be making the noise in Texas. Alycia Parks is hot on the heels of a maiden WTA title in Lyon. Parks sits just one spot below the top 50 and she has a massive opportunity on her hands to deliver on both fronts this week – a title and a top 50 debut.
Sloane Stephens has fallen down the pecking order, but she is still capable of streaking five wins out of nowhere. Last year she won a title in Guadalajara despite coming in without any sort of momentum. And after a chastening 6-0 6-0 defeat to Camila Giorgi in Merida, it is tough to imagine Stephens bouncing back.
