Fabio Fognini v Tomas Etcheverry Head to Head
Fognini and Etcheverry have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Fognini 1-4 for the Season
Once ranked ninth in the world and once a Masters 1000 winner. That’s Fognini at his best.
Unfortunately for the maverick Italian player, he is no longer at his best and those struggles have translated into four defeats from five matches this season.
His only victory came in the first round of the Rio Open last week – the first of the season for Fognini – when he overcame Marcelo Barrios Vera in straight sets to set up a meeting with the world number two Carlos Alcaraz.
Fognini managed to take a set off Alcaraz but in the end went down to the US Open champion in three.
He will hope to take the positives out of that encounter but more vitally will hope he can get into the rhythm of winning again. Against the hard-working Etcheverry, this could be a tough ask.

Etcheverry 2-3 on Clay This Season
Much like Fognini, Etcheverry loves his time on clay. This can be seen from the fact that counting all his appearances across different circuits and exhibition matches, 87% of his career matches have been on the red dirt.
Which is why, not very surprisingly, Etcheverry has featured in all thee of the clay court competitions held this year on the ATP circuit so far. This will be his fourth, following the Cordoba Open, Buenos Aires Open and Rio Open last week.
Etcheverry’s performances, however, have been slightly under-par.
He did make it to the quarterfinal at the Buenos Aires Open but lost his openers at the other two. Defeats to Joao Sousa and Albert Ramos Vinolas would have been hard to take.
Can Etcheverry now pull off his third win on clay this year against a player who has not had the best of times recently?
Fognini v Etcheverry Prediction and Tip
On clay there isn’t much to choose between these players but more so because one doesn’t what kind of form Fognini waltzes out with. Backing a safe call of an Etcheverry win and for the match to go to a third.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Etcheverry to win: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with 888Sport)
