JJ Wolf v Taro Daniel Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players at the highest level and one other on the Challenger circuit. Wolf has won them both.

Wolf Showing Consistency in 2023
From the 12 matches that Wolf has played this season he has won eight and lost just four. More vitally, this includes a solid run at the Australian Open where the American made the fourth round before losing to Ben Shelton in a hard-fought match.
Wolf followed that up with another excellent showing at the Dallas Open where he made the semifinal. Not just that, in doing so, Wolf trumped Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinal.
While Wolf wouldn’t be too chuffed losing to John Isner in that semifinal having started off a favourite, his overall performances have helped him climb back up to 44th in the world.
He enters this tournament on the back of a second round exit at the Delray Beach Open though, having lost to Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. Can he shrug that defeat away as he starts off against his struggling Japanese opponent?

Daniel Has Just One Main Draw Win for 2023
It’s been a forgettable time on court for Daniel who has struggled to break into the top 100 since the pandemic hit in 2020.
And it’s been no different this season when his only win in the main draw of a tournament came at the Australian Open against Ernesto Escobedo, a player himself ranked outside the top 350.
Other than that, Daniel failed to qualify for the Adelaide International and Auckland Open, lost in the first round at the Delray Beach Open and even when he featured in the Monterrey Challenger last week, could manage just one victory.
A rousing win over Juan Serrano in the first qualifier here and a three-set gruel against Brandon Holt have brought him his place in the main draw here but the big question is if he can produce something noteworthy against a player of the capability of Wolf.
We would like to think that’s going to be a toughie.
Wolf v Daniel Prediction and Tip
It shouldn’t be too difficult for Wolf here as he looks to wrap things up quickly and make it to the second round. Expecting him to win in two.
