These two youngsters have never played each other at the highest level.
Norrie Recent Entrant into the Top 50
Having earlier played for New Zealand, Norrie shifted to featuring for Great Britain in 2013 and has seen a slow ascent to the top 50 of the men’s rankings. The 23-year-old, South African-born Norrie played in his very first ATP main-draw match last year at Delray Beach and while he lost his opener to Hyeon Chung, it’s been a steady improvement since then.
So much so that he managed to push Dominic Thiem to three sets in Acapulco last year, and then qualified for his first ever Masters here at the Indian Wells in 2018. Later at Estoril Open he managed to win his opener when he defeated the sixth seeded Robin Haase, before winning for the first time against a top-10 opponent in the form of John Isner.
That win also propelled him to the semi-finals and since then he has garnered enough points to make it to the top 50.
Last week he also made the Acapulco semi-final. After beating Yoshihito Nishioka and Diego Schwartzman in three sets in the first two rounds, there was an easy straight-set win over Mackenzie McDonald which took him to the last-four stage.

Speaking of performances and confidence, Auger-Aliassime is coming off a performance to remember at the Rio Open two weeks ago. He began the competition with a straight-set thrashing of the second seeded Fabio Fognini before dispatching Christian Garin, Jaume Munar and Pablo Cuevas without dropping a set.
While he lost to Laslo Djere in the final, he had done enough to get himself a wild-card for this event in Indian Wells.
Having made his main draw debut at an ATP event only last year, he qualified for the Pune Open earlier this year and a quarter-final appearance at the Sao Paulo last week where he went down to Djere again.
