Emma Raducanu v Danka Kovinic Head to Head

They have faced off once before this and that came at the 2022 Australian Open where Kovinic won their second round match in three sets.

Raducanu Hasn’t Played Since Australian Open

Raducanu had tearfully retired from her Auckland Open second round match against Viktoriya Kuzmova because of an injury but she did well to return to tennis at the Australian Open that followed.

While the Brit won her opener there against Tamara Korpatsch, she fell in the second round to Cori Gauff. Raducanu put up a bit of fight too before losing in the second set tie-breaker.

Since then, however, Raducanu hasn’t been seen on the court for any kind of competitive tennis. She was expected to take part in the Austin Open last week but suffered a bout of tonsillitis which led her to withdraw from that tournament too.

She will now finally take to court here in Indian Wells, having reached the third round of this tournament last season. Can Raducanu match up to that showing or will there be another loss of points and slip down the rankings?

Kovinic on a Three-Match Losing Streak

It’s been bit of a mixed bag for Kovinic this season after having done well at two of the tournaments she has participated in but capitulated in three others.

Kovinic was a losing semifinalist at the Auckland Open, needing a rampaging Cori Gauff to stall her run. This was followed by a first round loss at the Australian Open though.

Returning to take part in Lyon, Kovinic made it as far as the quarterfinals there, but things have collapsed after that. Alycia Parks ended her run in Lyon and she then lost to Stefania Bojica in the qualifiers of the Dubai Open.

Bojica has never been ranked inside the top 600 of the WTA Rankings in her career.

More recently, at Austin, Kovinic was dumped out by Heather Watson in the very first round.

Can she now overturn these last three defeats and get past the talented but inconsistent Raducanu?

Raducanu v Kovinic Prediction and Tip

Raducanu is 3/10 to win this but we don’t think the difference between these two players is that stark. We could see a gruelling battle that goes in favour of Raducanu in the end.
