Lehecka Solid in 2023

Before the start of this season, Lehecka was ranked 81st in the world. While he had shown improvement in the previous season, not too many expected him to break into the top 40 of the rankings this quickly.

A semifinal at the Rotterdam Open and a couple of top-notch performances on the Challenger circuit helped him no end in 2022.

This year he has gone one well, making it to the quarterfinal of the Australian Open. To give you a context, that followed five successive appearances in Grand Slam competitions without a single main draw victory.

Add a semifinal appearance at the ATP Qatar more recently which included a win over Andrey Rublev and you have Lehecka being one of the players to watch out in the season.

Can he shrug off his first round loss at the ATP Dubai the last time he played a competitive match and march into round two?

Rinderknech’s Struggles Force Him to Play Challenger

In the six ATP tournaments Rinderknech had played in the lead-up to the Indian Wells Open, he had won just two main draw matches. The first came against Francisco Cerundolo on the hardcourt surfaces of United Cup and that was followed by an opening win over Luca Nardi at Montpellier.

Between all of that, there have been six defeats in total.

That’s the kind of inconsistency in getting positive results which could have pushed Rinderknech into featuring in the Pau Challenger last week.

Fortunately for Rinderknech, he did carve out three wins there, before losing to the eventual winner, Luca van Assche. Still, the point here is that it would have helped Rinderknech get into some sort of a rhythm coming into the Indian Wells Open.

What remains to be seen is if that’s enough against a player of Lehecka’s caliber and form.

Lehecka v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip

Lehecka should not a lot of problems here if he can maintain his rhythm from the rest of the season. No surprises he is a bookmaker’s favourite too and we expect him to win this in straight sets.
