The last time Gasquet was at the Indian Wells, he stumbled badly in the very first round, losing to Oscar Otte in its 2022 edition. This time around he would start off a favourite against a player who has had to qualify to make it through to the main draw.
Gasquet has had a mixed season so far though.
It started with a first round loss at the Adelaide International but he then followed it up with shock title win in Auckland. He overcame David Goffin and Cameron Norrie in laying his hands on the trophy there.
Just when one would have thought this was a good spur-on, Gasquet has stumbled over the course of the following seven weeks. Two first round defeats at the Australian Open and Montpellier and another couple of second round losses in Rotterdam and Marseille have followed for the Frenchman.

Gojo Opting to Take the Challenger Route
Gojo did kick-start the season playing for Croatia in the United Cup but since then has featured in just one top-level ATP tournament. Most of his focus in the interim period has been on the Challenger circuit and it’s helped him to some extent.
Things looked to be headed in the right direction for Gojo who won all his three singles matches in the United Cup which helped him hit his career-best ranking of 116th in the world. Unfortunately for him, a struggle at the two Challenger events and the Rotterdam Open competitions meant he fell back to 160th.
Since then, however, Gojo has managed to make it to the final of the Monterrey Challenger and the semifinal of the Waco Challenger to pull himself out of his mire.
And with successive qualifying wins, he will take part in the main draw of the Indian Wells Open for the first time in his career.
